Air India plans to add 100+ planes, new CEO incoming

Air India is an airline in India.

It currently has more than 185 of its own planes, and together with its sister airline Air India Express, the group has almost 300 planes.

The airline is facing tough times because of fuel prices, airspace disruptions and world events.

Its boss, Campbell Wilson, told workers that the airline plans to buy more than 100 new planes in the next two years.

Wilson will soon leave, and a new leader named Tewolde Gebremariam will become the CEO.

Air India also promised workers a pay raise that starts on October 1.

Pilots will get their new pay structure on the same day.

The airline will also fix up 16 Boeing 787-8 planes in 2027.

Air India believes these steps will keep it on a path to making money.
