Bangladesh Report Finds August Surge in Killings and Violence
A rights group studied violence in Bangladesh during August 2026.
It said more women and children were killed than in July.
Injuries caused by political violence also increased greatly.
The group recorded more attacks and threats against minority communities.
It also reported rises in rape, suicides, disappearances and drug-related detentions.
Many unidentified bodies were found in places such as rivers, roads and fields.
The group said these problems show that people need better protection.
It asked authorities to investigate crimes fairly and punish those responsible.
The Manabadhikar Shongskriti Foundation reported sharp increases in killings, political violence and minority attacks in Bangladesh during August 2026.
Deaths of women and children rose to 91 in August from 52 in July, while related incidents increased 6.8 percent to 327.
Political-violence injuries rose 181 percent, from 95 in July to 267 in August.
Attacks involving minority communities increased from eight incidents in July to 26 in August.
The rights group urged impartial investigations, stronger rule of law, protection for minorities and an end to mob justice.
