Allahabad HC dismisses PIL against Kanwar route shop closures
Allahabad HC dismiss PIL challenging the closure of chicken, mutton shops on Kanwar Yatra route in UP · thestatesman.com

Every year, many people in a part of India called Uttar Pradesh go on a special religious walk called the Kanwar Yatra.

During the holy month of Shravan, the police closed shops that sell chicken and mutton along the walking route.

A lawyer named Nasir Farooq from a town called Amroha thought this was unfair.

He said the shop owners need to work to feed their families, and the notice from the police had no date on it.

He asked a big court called the Allahabad High Court to let the shops open again.

The court listened to his request.

But the judges said the lawyer made the case to get attention, not to really help people.

So the court said no and closed the case.

The judges who made this decision were Chief Justice Arun Bhasin and Justice Kshitij Shailendra.

This means the shops must stay closed during Shravan for now.
