Tirupati MP Urges Labour Minister to Address Contract Employees' Concerns

Some workers at hospitals and colleges in a part of India called Andhra Pradesh are hired as contract employees.

They do the same jobs as regular workers, but they get paid less money.

A lawmaker from Tirupati, named Maddila Gurumurthy, went to the capital city New Delhi to talk about this problem.

He met with the Union minister for labour, Mansukh Mandaviya, and gave him a letter about the workers.

He asked that workers who do the same work should get the same pay, which is called 'Equal Pay for Equal Work.'

The minister said the government is planning to make a new law about equal pay for both government and private jobs.

The lawmaker also said hospital workers should get proper days off each week.

Some workers who had been on the job for more than ten years were let go without any warning, and he asked for those cases to be reviewed.

He also wants fair hiring, so that everyone gets a fair chance to get a job.
