ATS busts inter-state meth network after Rs 9 crore seizure
Police in India found a large amount of an illegal drug called methamphetamine.
It all started in Mumbai, where officers stopped a person who was carrying drugs.
That person told them about a bigger operation.
The police then searched a building in Greater Noida, a city in another state, and found even more drugs and equipment used to make them.
In total, they took about 4.7 kilograms of the drug, which is worth around 9 crore rupees.
Three people were arrested, including two women from other countries.
The police have not said which countries the women come from.
The arrested people are accused of breaking laws about dangerous drugs.
The police are still trying to find out who made the drugs and who was going to receive them.
Maharashtra ATS seized 4.738 kg of methamphetamine, estimated to be worth around Rs 9.4 crore, in operations in Mumbai and Greater Noida.
The probe began after the Kalachowky ATS unit received a tip-off, and a suspect was intercepted near a hotel in Bandra carrying 2.050 kg of methamphetamine valued at about Rs 4 crore.
Questioning led to a raid on a suspected manufacturing facility in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, where another 2.688 kg of methamphetamine, worth about Rs 5.4 crore, and manufacturing materials were recovered.
Three people were apprehended, including two foreign national women whose nationalities have not been disclosed.
All three were booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, and the ATS continues to investigate the wider supply chain and possible additional members.
