Bengaluru Markets Prepare for Varamahalakshmi as Prices Rise
People in Bengaluru are buying things for the Varamahalakshmi festival.
The celebrations will take place on Friday.
Markets, especially KR Market, are very busy.
Flowers are more expensive because many people want to buy them.
Kanakambara costs about ₹3,000 to ₹4,000 per kilogram.
Some families are buying ready-made Lakshmi idols with sarees and jewellery instead of decorating them at home.
Fruits such as apples have also become costlier, although some vegetables remain relatively cheaper.
Sellers expect even more people to shop before the festival.
Shopping has intensified across Bengaluru ahead of Friday’s Varamahalakshmi festival, with KR Market particularly crowded.
Kanakambara prices range from ₹3,000 to ₹4,000 per kg, while reported jasmine prices range from ₹300 to ₹2,000 per kg.
Other flowers, including roses, chrysanthemums, sampige and sugandharaja garlands, are also selling at elevated prices.
Ready-made Lakshmi idols costing ₹2,000–₹8,000 are gaining popularity among households in several Bengaluru neighborhoods.
Fruit prices have risen moderately, with apples reaching nearly ₹250 per kg, while traders expect the rush to continue through Friday.
