Bihar Police tells Supreme Court constable fired AK-47 when trapped

Bihar Police told the Supreme Court that a District Intelligence Unit constable fired four rounds from an AK-47 into the air after getting trapped in a crowd of protesters in Siwan on July 25, 2026.
No one was injured by the gunfire, according to a counter affidavit filed by ADGP (Law and Order) K Suhita Anupam.
Protesters from AISA and RYA, the student and youth wings of CPI(ML), gathered at Gandhi Maidan and marched toward JP Chowk before stone pelting began around 12:30 pm.
Twenty police personnel, including the Superintendent of Police Siwan, were injured, and two police vehicles and a large number of traffic trollies were damaged in the violence.
Six FIRs were registered against 82 persons, 17 of whom were arrested, while police used water cannon and tear gas shells to control the situation.
