Brazilian footballer falls into tunnel celebrating disallowed goal
A footballer in Brazil had a very strange and unlucky day at a big match.
He scored a goal, and he was so happy that he jumped over an advertisement board to celebrate.
But there was an open tunnel behind the board, and he fell straight into it.
Luckily, he was rescued and treated, but the fall hurt him and he had to leave the game a few minutes later.
To make things even worse, the goal was taken away because a video check showed that he was offside.
Even without that goal, his team, Coritiba, still won the match 2-1.
A similar fall happened to another Coritiba player twelve years ago.
During the same match, a player from the other team, Chapecoense, crashed into his own teammate and was badly hurt.
He went to intensive care and had surgery because of his chest injuries.
Coritiba defender Jacy fell into an open tunnel at half-time after jumping over an advertisement hoarding to celebrate what he thought was a goal.
The goal was disallowed for offside following a VAR review.
Coritiba still beat Chapecoense 2-1 in the Brazilian top-flight match on Saturday.
The same security guard who helped Jacy had assisted Coritiba striker Joel in an identical tunnel fall at Couto Pereira 12 years ago.
Chapecoense midfielder Max Alves suffered severe chest trauma and multiple rib fractures after crashing into his own teammate and underwent surgery in the ICU.
