During Pune’s Ganeshotsav celebrations, devotees made two very large sweet offerings to Lord Ganesha.

One was a 251-kg cake shaped like a modak and flavoured like rasmalai.

WS Bakers prepared the cake.

Another group offered a giant motichoor laddu.

Prabhat Farshan and Deepak Caterers presented the laddu.

Workers used forklifts to move it into the festival mandap.

After the offerings were made, the sweets were shared with devotees as prasad.

The laddu tradition has continued for 26 years and began with a much smaller 5-kg laddu.

Director of WS Bakers, which prepared the modak cake

“I have seen many offerings to Dagdusheth Ganpati over the years, but seeing such a huge motichoor laddu was truly eye-catching. It shows how devotees continue to find new and creative ways to express their faith. Such traditions have now become an interesting part of Ganeshotsav and give devotees something memorable to look forward to every year.”
