BMC's Rs 2,225-crore plan for Malad bridges
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has a big plan to make traffic better in Malad, a busy area in Mumbai.
They are going to build two new bridges.
One of these bridges is very special because it has cables to hold it up, like a big bridge you might see in a movie.
This bridge will be 792 meters long and will have 8 lanes for cars to drive on.
It will connect Infinity Mall to Lagoon Road in Malvani, going over Malad Creek.
The other bridge will be an elevated road that goes over Ramchandra nullah.
Together, these bridges will help cars move more easily in the western part of Mumbai.
The project will cost a lot of money, about Rs 2,225.95 crore, and it will take three years to build.
The BMC is currently looking at the plans and will start building once they get all the necessary permissions.
BMC plans to construct two bridges in Malad to ease traffic congestion, including a 792-meter-long cable-stayed bridge.
The cable-stayed bridge will connect Infinity Mall to Lagoon Road (Mahakali Road) in Malvani, passing over Malad Creek.
The project is part of a Rs 2,225.95 crore plan to improve connectivity in the western suburbs of Mumbai.
The bridges will have a total of 8 lanes, with 4 lanes on each side, and are expected to reduce travel time significantly.
Construction is expected to take three years after obtaining necessary permissions and NOCs from the High Court.

A senior official from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)
“The two bridges will criss-cross with one moving in east-west direction and the other — elevated road — in north-south direction. Together, the bridges will ease traffic movement in western suburbs. Tender for the project was floated in October and we are currently evaluating the bids. Last week, we opened Packet C of the tender for assessment. As project passes over ecologically sensitive zones, construction will start after obtaining NOCs and permissions from High Court”
