Maharashtra Plans 20,000 Free Health Camps During Ganeshotsav
Maharashtra plans to turn many Ganesh festival places into small health centres.
About 20,000 free camps will be held during Ganeshotsav 2026.
The camps aim to help more than 20 lakh people in cities and villages.
Doctors will check for illnesses such as diabetes, cancer, heart problems and kidney disease.
They will also screen for infections, neurological conditions and childhood illnesses.
People who may have serious health problems will be sent to specialist doctors or hospitals.
Some patients may get help through government health programmes.
The plan is larger than last year’s campaign, which screened more than seven lakh people.
Maharashtra plans around 20,000 free health screening camps across all 36 districts during Ganeshotsav 2026.
The camps aim to screen more than 20 lakh people at Ganesh mandaps and other participating institutions.
Screenings will cover heart disease, kidney disorders, cancer, diabetes, infectious diseases, neurological conditions and paediatric ailments.
Patients suspected of serious illnesses will be referred to specialists and may receive assistance through government health schemes.
The campaign expands on last year’s 12,655 camps, which screened 7,04,073 people and referred 18,800 for further treatment.
