Restoration of SC status to Beda Budaga Jangam community demanded
A group of people called the Beda Budaga Jangam community lives in a place called Korukonda.
They belong to a special list in India called the Scheduled Castes, which helps them get benefits like school help and jobs.
The government used to give them a paper called a caste certificate online.
This certificate proved they were on the list, so they could get those benefits.
In 2023, the online system stopped showing them on the list.
Now they cannot get the certificate, and this has made life harder for them.
Their leader, Vanam Nageswara Rao, asked the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister to put them back on the list.
He said the Chief Minister had promised to fix this before the election.
The community says it is not asking for something new, just to get back what they had before.
They hope the government will fix this during the Assembly meeting.
Beda Budaga Jangam community president Vanam Nageswara Rao urged Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister K Pawan Kalyan to restore the community as Serial No 9 in the Scheduled Caste list on the online portal.
The demand was made at a community meeting held in Korukonda on Monday, with an appeal to resolve the issue during the ongoing Assembly session.
Rao said the community received SC caste certificates online under Serial No 9 until the previous government's tenure, but the facility was removed from the online portal in 2023.
He said the issue was raised with Naidu when he was Leader of the Opposition, who assured that Serial No 9 would be restored once the alliance came to power.
Rao said the absence of caste certificates has severely affected members in education, employment, welfare schemes and livelihood, and clarified the community seeks restoration, not fresh inclusion.
