Gen Z Candidates Make Limited Breakthrough in Rajasthan Civic Polls
Some young people won seats in Rajasthan’s local elections.
In Jaipur, 18 young candidates from the Congress and BJP contested wards.
Six of them won.
Four winners were from Congress, and two were from the BJP.
They will make up about four percent of Jaipur’s civic body.
Faiz Hasan and Palak Yadav, both 21, were among the youngest winners.
Another winner, Suraj Godiwal, defeated a much older candidate by 1,063 votes.
Neha Sharma, a 21-year-old journalist, said she entered politics to help people more directly.
Eighteen Gen Z candidates were fielded by the BJP and Congress in Jaipur’s 150 wards.
