Odisha varsity teachers, MLA trade misconduct charges over hostel row

At a big college called Ravenshaw University in India, some students live in a building called East Hostel.

On August 1, the students went out to celebrate Friendship Day with their friends.

When they came back that night, they found that two of the rooms in their hostel were locked.

The students were upset and thought the person in charge of the hostel, Deputy Warden Rabiul Ansari, had locked them on purpose.

So they started a hunger strike, which means they stopped eating, to ask for him to leave his job.

Then a politician named Prakash Sethi, who is a local leader, came to a meeting about the problem.

He said the chief warden was rude to him, and the teachers said the politician was the rude one.

Because of the argument, all the people who look after the 13 hostels quit their jobs.

The leader of the college, called the Vice-Chancellor, said the rooms were only locked for a little while and asked everyone to stop fighting.
