BJP has always betrayed women: Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy

A minister in India named Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy is upset with a political party called the BJP.

He says the BJP has not done enough to help women in the country.

He wants a law called the Women's Reservation Act to be put into action right away.

This law would set aside some seats in government for women.

The minister says the BJP is delaying this by tying it to redrawing voting areas, called delimitation.

He thinks that is just an excuse to keep waiting.

He also points out that the BJP has never had a woman as its national president.

He says another party, the Congress, gave India its first woman President and first woman Prime Minister.

He also says some BJP politicians have been accused of harassing women and the party did not take action.

The minister wants women's reservation to happen now, with no more delays.
