CAG Audit: 89% of Railway Stations Deficient in Basic Amenities

Someone called the CAG checks how well the government is running things.

They looked at 512 train stations to see if they had the basic things passengers need.

Things like clean water, toilets, lights, and waiting areas are called Minimum Essential Amenities.

The CAG found that 458 of the 512 stations, which is about 89 out of every 100, did not have these basics.

Some stations did not provide them at all, and others had too little.

Only 54 stations had all the basic things they were supposed to have.

The check also found a germ called E. coli in the drinking water, which can make people sick.

That means the water at these stations was not clean enough to drink.

The CAG wants the railway to fix these problems so passengers are safe and comfortable.

This report tells us that many train stations need a lot of work.
