SEBI Eases FPI Onboarding With Digitally Signed Power Of Attorney
Sebi eases FPI onboarding by allowing digitally signed PoA · thehansindia.com

SEBI is changing how foreign investors join India’s financial markets.

These investors can give their custodian a digitally signed Power of Attorney.

A Power of Attorney lets the custodian act for the investor.

The document must include the custodian’s address.

Its digital signature must follow the Information Technology Act, 2000.

Investors will no longer need to notarise, apostille or consularise the document.

This should make the onboarding process quicker and simpler.

The new rule begins on August 20, 2026.
