Silver futures slip on lower positions as participants cut bets
Silver is a shiny metal that people use to make jewelry, coins, and other things.
Some people buy and sell silver to try to make money.
On this day, people trading silver in India decided to sell some of their silver.
Because many traders sold at the same time, the price of silver went down a little.
One kilogram of silver became 792 rupees cheaper, so it now costs 226,792 rupees.
Silver that will be delivered in September also became a little less expensive.
In New York, silver also dropped a tiny bit, going down by less than one percent.
This happened because traders wanted to reduce their bets on silver.
So silver got slightly cheaper for buyers around the world.
Silver futures fell by Rs 792 to Rs 2,26,792 per kilogram as participants reduced their positions.
September-delivery silver contracts declined 0.35 per cent in a business turnover of 1,700 lots.
Analysts attributed the decline mainly to a sell-off by participants.
Globally, silver was trading 0.73 per cent down at $61.59 per ounce in New York.
The white metal slipped in futures trade as lower bets weighed on prices.
