Visakhapatnam Launches Month-Long Swachhta Hi Seva Cleanliness Campaign
Visakhapatnam is starting a month-long campaign to make the city cleaner and greener.
It will run from September 17 to October 17.
People will clean public places and learn about protecting the environment.
Students and young people will take part in special cleanliness activities.
Sanitation workers will receive attention for their health, safety and welfare.
Citizens will be encouraged to separate waste and recycle more.
On October 1, people will work together for one hour to clean their surroundings.
On October 2, special programmes will mark Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary and promote cleanliness.
Visakhapatnam will conduct the Swachhta Hi Seva-2026 campaign from September 17 to October 17.
Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation Commissioner Ketan Garg will inaugurate the campaign at GR Nagar Colony.
The campaign will involve officials, students, youth, NGOs, resident associations, sanitation workers and citizens.
Activities will promote waste segregation, home composting, recycling, reduced plastic use and public-place cleanliness.
A city-wide one-hour labour programme is planned for October 1, followed by Swachh Bharat Diwas activities on October 2.
