Mumbai to Launch Major Campaign for Housing Society Self-Redevelopment
Mumbai may soon start a large campaign to help housing societies rebuild their own buildings.
MLA Pravin Darekar announced the plan at an event in Borivali West.
He said self-redevelopment is already becoming more popular in the city.
The Mumbai District Central Cooperative Bank has received about 1,600 requests from societies.
It has approved loans for 46 societies.
Darekar said about 21 or 22 buildings have already been completed.
Officers from Delhi visited Mumbai to learn how the system works.
The bank also plans new facilities for housing groups and a taxi scheme intended to benefit taxi drivers.
