Central Railway Freight Loading Surges Through August 2026
Central Railway carried more goods by train from April through August 2026 than it did during the same period last year.
It moved 34.48 million tonnes of freight in 13,058 trains called rakes.
This was more than 7% higher than last year.
The railway earned Rs.3,461.92 crore from this freight service.
Nagpur division handled the largest share of the goods and revenue.
In August alone, Central Railway moved 6.85 million tonnes, its highest August total in 10 years.
August revenue was also higher than it was the year before.
More coal, petroleum products, automobiles, iron ore, sugar, foodgrains and dolomite were loaded in August.
Central Railway said it will work to improve freight facilities and attract more goods traffic.
