China Expels Two Top Generals Over Disloyalty, Corruption
China removed two very senior military leaders from the Communist Party and the armed forces.
Their names are Zhang Youxia and Liu Zhenli.
Chinese state media said they broke laws and party rules.
The accusations included disloyalty, corruption, failing to do their duties and abusing their positions.
Officials also said the men formed groups against party rules and became involved in serious political and economic wrongdoing.
Investigations into them began in January.
They were removed from the Central Military Commission in late August.
Zhang had been one of China’s most senior military commanders.
The announcement came before Xi Jinping’s planned meeting with Donald Trump and an important party meeting about discipline.
