UGC Opens Applications for Distance and Online Courses

The UGC is allowing colleges and other higher education institutions to apply to teach courses online or through distance learning.

These applications are for courses beginning in January or February 2027 and later.

Institutions can apply online through the Distance Education Bureau portal.

The online application period is from September 1 to September 15, 2026.

They must also mail original documents to the UGC in New Delhi by September 25.

Applying does not automatically mean the institution is approved.

The UGC will check whether each institution follows its rules.

Institutions can visit the Distance Education Bureau website for fee details and other updates.
