Are Upper Castes Turning Against BJP After Election Losses?

In India, people sometimes vote because of the groups they belong to, including groups called castes.

Recently, there were elections in two Indian states, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh.

One very important seat called Bankipur was won by a new politician named Prashant Kishor.

That seat was thought to be very safe for a big political party called the BJP.

The BJP lost that seat, and people think Upper Caste voters may have stopped supporting them.

In another place called Datia, the BJP also lost, and many believe the same thing happened there.

Some BJP supporters in Datia were unhappy with a leader named Narottam Mishra.

Both states also got new leaders in the past three years, and some voters may be upset about those changes.

Analysts are now asking whether Upper Castes are turning against the BJP.
