Undertrial in Rajasthan jail dies; kin allege treatment delay
A man named Ganadev Gurjar was staying in a jail in Tonk, Rajasthan, because he was waiting for his trial to finish.
He was 32 years old.
One morning, he told the jail staff that his chest hurt.
They took him to the small health centre inside the jail.
When his condition became serious, they moved him to a bigger hospital called Saadat Hospital.
The doctors there thought he might be having a heart attack, so they sent him to a very big hospital in Jaipur called SMS Hospital.
Sadly, he died there while the doctors were trying to help him.
The jail says the most likely reason he died was a heart attack.
His family says the jail waited too long to get him medical help.

A 32-year-old undertrial prisoner, Ganadev Gurjar, died while undergoing treatment at SMS Hospital in Jaipur.
He had been in judicial custody in Tonk district jail since October 30, 2025, in a case of assault and SC/ST Act provisions registered at Tonk Kotwali police station.
He complained of chest discomfort on Wednesday morning and was moved from the jail health centre to Saadat Hospital before being referred to SMS Hospital.
The jail administration said the preliminary cause of death is suspected to be a heart attack, pending the post-mortem report.
Relatives, including Dhanraj Gurjar, alleged negligence and delay in treatment, saying he was unwell since Tuesday and they were not allowed to speak to him.
