Hindalco Net Profit Rises 75% on Record India Performance
Hindalco is a big company in India that makes aluminium and copper.
The company shared how much money it made in the first three months of the financial year.
It made much more money this time than it did last year — its profit went up by about 75%.
Its sales also went up by about 32%.
The India part of the business did very well, helped by a new lower tax rate.
Its American company, Novelis, also made more money because metal prices were higher.
One of its factories in a place called Oswego started working again in June after it was damaged by fires.
A new factory in Bay Minette is almost ready and will start selling products next year.
The company still owes more money than before because it needs extra money to run its copper business and keep more stock.
The boss said the company started the new year on a strong note.
Hindalco Industries reported a 75.1% year-on-year rise in net profit to Rs 7,013 crore for Q1 FY27, beating Bloomberg estimates of Rs 5,809 crore.
Revenue from operations grew 32.1% to Rs 84,825 crore, though it lagged Street estimates of Rs 86,688 crore.
India business PAT jumped 86% to Rs 5,301 crore, aided by the transition to a new tax regime effective April 1 that cut the effective tax rate to 26%.
US subsidiary Novelis posted revenue of $5.8 billion, up 23%, with adjusted EBITDA per tonne rising to $563 from $432.
Net debt more than doubled year-on-year to Rs 77,495 crore, driven by high working capital in copper and higher Novelis inventories.
