Sensex, Nifty see muted opens as crude hovers near $90
Sensex, Nifty Today: GIFT Nifty signals a negative start as Crude continues near $90 · financialexpress.com

Stock markets are like giant shops where people buy and sell tiny pieces of companies.

India has two very famous ones, the Sensex and the Nifty.

For two days in a row, both of these went down a little bit.

Before the markets opened, a signal called the GIFT Nifty said they would start quietly, or slightly lower.

One reason people feel careful is oil.

Oil for fuel travels through a narrow sea route called the Strait of Hormuz, and there is a disagreement there, known as a stalemate.

Because of that, the price of oil came very close to $90 a barrel.

When people worry, they often buy gold and silver as safe places to keep their money, so those prices went up.

Investors are also watching markets in Asia and America to guess what will happen next.
