The Hyderabad Metro Rail Project Phase-I in Telangana has received Rs.1,204 crore from the central government.

This money is called a viability gap fund (VGF) and helps build the metro.

The project is being built using a public-private partnership (PPP) model.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh does not have any metro projects currently, so it did not receive any central financial assistance.

The metro helps reduce traffic and pollution by encouraging people to use public transport instead of private vehicles.

Currently, there are about 1159 km of metro rail networks operating in 26 cities across India.

The information was shared by the Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal, in response to a question raised by MP R Krishnaiah.
