Heavy rain and rising rivers caused flooding in parts of Uttar Pradesh.

Congress leader Aradhana Mishra wrote to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath asking the government to help affected people.

She said crops and homes had been affected, including in Lucknow’s Faizullaganj area.

She asked officials to find out how much crop damage occurred and compensate eligible farmers.

She also called for steps to prevent infections and water-borne diseases.

Adityanath had visited flooded areas near the Gomti River and said officials would survey crop damage and riverbanks.

He said embankments were being considered as a lasting way to reduce repeated flooding.
