Telangana BLOs Rush to Collect Documents Before SIR Deadline
Election workers in Telangana are collecting documents from people who received special voter-list notices.
They are visiting homes and making phone calls to help voters finish the process.
People who cannot go to an office can send copies of their documents using a phone.
Officers can print those digital documents and attach them to the voter’s notice.
Hearings usually do not need to happen in person.
In some cases, hearings can be held online or attended by an authorized adult family member.
Officials are checking the submitted information before publishing the final voter list.
The final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on November 9.
Booth Level Officers across Telangana are intensifying efforts to collect documents from voters served SIR notices before the October 7 deadline.
Voters who cannot visit booths are being encouraged to send digital copies of documents through smartphones or WhatsApp.
In one Malakpet booth, 213 notices were served, with about 6% of voters still yet to submit documents.
Telangana’s Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudharshan Reddy said hearings should generally not require voters to visit electoral offices and may be conducted online.
Of 92,88,180 notices generated, 63,99,402 hearings had been held and 51,86,777 voters were found eligible for final publication.

Telangana Chief Electoral Officer
“In my booth, a total of 213 notices were served. While all of them received the notices, copies and submitted the relevant documents, about six per cent are yet to submit theirs. We are regularly visiting the households to convince them and calling them to complete the task to ensure their vote remains intact”

“Only in exceptional circumstances, as decided by the ERO, the hearing will be held, preferably online. Any adult member of the family can be authorised by the elector to attend the hearing on their behalf. Facilities for the online hearing to be strengthened.”
