High Court Gives State Final Chance On Indore Noise Pollution
The Madhya Pradesh High Court is checking whether Indore officials are doing enough to control loud noise.
The court asked the State Government to explain what action has been taken.
This is the State’s last chance to send its explanation.
If it does not respond, the District Magistrate may have to appear in court.
The case began as a public interest lawsuit filed by Amitabh Upadhyay.
The court was not satisfied with earlier answers from officials.
It also asked for information about fines and convictions for breaking noise-control rules.
The next hearing will take place on Aug.
27.
The Indore bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court gave the State Government a final opportunity to explain measures against noise pollution.
The court warned that the District Magistrate, Indore, may be summoned if the State does not file its reply.
The case was heard by Justices Subodh Abhyankar and Alok Awasthi in a PIL filed by Amitabh Upadhyay.
The Registry was directed to obtain data on convictions and fines imposed during 2025-26 under the Madhya Pradesh Kolahal Niyantran Adhiniyam, 1985.
The next hearing is scheduled for Aug. 27, when the State’s enforcement record may be reviewed.
