Hyderabad CURE Area Power Consumption Hits Record High
The Hyderabad region used more electricity than ever before on August 18.
The area is called CURE and includes Hyderabad and nearby places within the Outer Ring Road.
It used 3,893 megawatts of electricity that day.
That was 1,000 megawatts more than on the same day last year.
More homes, shops and construction projects are increasing the need for electricity.
Officials expect electricity use to grow by another 30% in the next six months.
They are improving substations, power networks and smart technology to meet the demand.
Their main challenge is providing reliable, good-quality electricity to everyone.
The CURE area recorded 3,893 MW of power consumption on August 18.
Consumption was 1,000 MW higher than on the same day last year, when it reached 2,981 MW.
CURE accounted for 3,893 MW of the 11,000 MW used within TGSPDCL’s service limits.
Officials linked the increase to commercial activity, construction and rising domestic connections.
TGSPDCL expects CURE demand to rise 30% in six months and reach 5,000 MW by summer 2027.
