Pune Prepares for 209th Bhima Koregaon Vijay Stambh Commemoration
Pune is getting ready for a big event called the 209th Bhima Koregaon Vijay Stambh Shaurya Day on January 1, 2026.
A lot of people, about 20 lakh, are expected to come to Perne village near Pune.
The government is making sure there are enough water, parking, and toilets for everyone.
There will be lots of police to keep everyone safe, and they will even use drones to watch for any trouble.
This year is special because it's 100 years since a very important person, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, visited this place.
Many retired soldiers and important leaders will also be there to pay their respects.
There will be food, cultural programs, and meetings for everyone to enjoy.
The 209th Bhima Koregaon Vijay Stambh Shaurya Day will be observed on January 1, 2026, at Perne village near Pune, with 20 lakh visitors expected.
Large-scale preparations are being made, including increased facilities and security measures, with 13,000 police personnel and drones with face-scanning technology.
The event marks 100 years since Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar paid homage at the memorial, with special programs planned for the centenary.
Around 3,000 retired soldiers of the Mahar Regiment will offer a collective tribute through the national anthem.
Prominent leaders, including Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and Union Minister Ramdas Athawale, are expected to attend the event.
