Students Mark Rohith Vemula's 10th Death Anniversary
Ten years ago, a student named Rohith Vemula died by suicide at the University of Hyderabad.
He was a Dalit, which is a group of people who have faced a lot of discrimination.
Rohith and his friends were expelled from the university and faced many difficulties because they spoke up against unfair treatment.
His death caused a lot of protests and sadness across the country.
Recently, on the 10th anniversary of his death, students at the university boycotted classes and held a march to remember Rohith and demand justice.
They gathered at a place called Velivaada on the campus and even took out a torch procession.
Rohith's mother and a politician from Gujarat also joined them to pay their respects.
The students say that until discrimination based on caste is completely removed from educational institutions, they will continue to fight for justice and remember Rohith as a symbol of resistance.
Students at the University of Hyderabad boycotted classes to mark the 10th death anniversary of Rohith Vemula.
A march and torch procession were held on the campus, with participants including Rohith's mother and Congress MLA Jignesh Mevani.
The event was organized by the UoH Ambedkar Students Association (ASA) to demand justice for Vemula.
The ASA stated that there has been no accountability from the university, the Ministry of Education, or the Indian state for Vemula's death.
