Indian American Voters Lean Democratic Ahead of 2026 Midterms
Indian American voters are mostly leaning toward Democratic candidates in the 2026 elections.
About two-thirds support Democrats for the Senate.
Many Asian American voters in general also prefer Democrats.
The main issue for these voters is the cost of everyday living.
Health care, jobs, and retirement benefits are also important.
Most surveyed voters said they plan to vote.
However, fewer Indian Americans now identify as Democrats than in 2020.
Many also say the Republican Party is responsible for discrimination against their community.
About 66% of Indian Americans surveyed support Democratic Senate candidates, the highest Democratic preference among major Asian American groups.
Across AAPI voters, Democrats lead Republicans 60% to 24% for Senate and 64% to 22% for House candidates.
Cost of living and inflation is the top concern, followed by health care, jobs, and Social Security and Medicare.
The survey found that 90% of AAPI registered voters plan to vote on November 3, 2026.
A separate analysis found Democratic identification among Indian Americans fell from 52% in 2020 to 46% in 2026.
