Kolkata Athletes Win Four Medals at Muay Thai Worlds
Two athletes from Kolkata competed for India at a big Muay Thai championship in Kosovo.
Ayushree Banerjee won one silver medal and one bronze medal.
Ishan Das also won one silver medal and one bronze medal.
Together, they brought home four medals.
The event took place from September 1 to 11, 2026.
More than 300 athletes from over 50 countries competed.
Das is also Banerjee’s coach.
Banerjee had previously won a bronze medal at the 2024 Asian Kickboxing Championships in Cambodia.
Ayushree Banerjee and Ishan Das won four medals for India at the IFMA Senior World Championships 2026 in Deçan, Kosovo.
Banerjee earned silver in the Senior Elite Female M. Technical 45kg category and bronze in the Senior Elite Female 45kg event.
Das won silver in the Senior Elite Male M. Technical 51kg category and bronze in the Senior Elite Male 51kg event.
The championships ran from September 1 to 11 and featured more than 300 athletes from over 50 countries.
Both athletes represent India and West Bengal and train at the God of Athletes martial arts gym in Naktala.
