Cordis Announces Positive Results for Two SELUTION SLR DEB Trials at TCT 2025
Imagine your heart's blood vessels get blocked, like a clogged pipe.
Doctors usually put in a tiny metal mesh tube called a stent to keep it open.
Cordis, a company that makes medical devices, has developed a special balloon that releases medicine.
They tested this special balloon in two big studies called SELUTION DeNovo and SELUTION4ISR.
The studies showed that this medicine balloon worked just as well as the old stents for some problems, and for other problems, it was almost as good.
This means doctors might be able to use these medicine balloons more often instead of permanent stents, which could be a good thing for patients.
The results were shared at a big meeting for heart doctors called TCT 2025.
Cordis hopes this new technology will help doctors treat heart problems in new ways.
Cordis announced positive results for the SELUTION DeNovo and SELUTION4ISR trials of its SELUTION SLR™ Drug-Eluting Balloon (DEB) at TCT 2025.
Both trials met their primary endpoints, demonstrating the SELUTION SLR™ DEB as a viable alternative to current standard treatments for coronary lesions.
The SELUTION DeNovo trial, the largest randomized coronary DEB trial to date with 3,323 patients, showed non-inferiority to a drug-eluting stent (DES) strategy for de novo lesions.
The SELUTION4ISR trial confirmed non-inferior performance of the SELUTION™ SLR DEB against the standard of care for treating in-stent restenosis.
These findings suggest that the SELUTION SLR™ DEB may help minimize the need for permanent stent implants in certain cardiovascular interventions.
