UP Power Distribution Loss Falls as Profitable Feeders Rise

Uttar Pradesh says its electricity system has become more efficient.

More electricity feeders began earning more money than they lost.

The government used special high-loss clusters to monitor problem areas.

Officials said they recovered unpaid electricity bills and issued new connections.

They credited regular reviews, data monitoring and accountability for the improvements.

Key facts

Distribution loss: Declined from 20.63% in 2020-21 to 13.04% in 2025-26.
AT&C loss: Declined from 31.19% to 17.83% over the same period.
Profitable feeders: Increased from 5,772 to 8,104, with their share rising from 31% to 38%.
High Loss Cluster Model: Covered 703 clusters, 1,703 feeders, 42.21 lakh consumers and 76,839 distribution transformers.
Dues recovered: Rs 654 crore 31 lakh was recovered under the statewide campaign.
Dakshinanchal performance: Distribution loss fell from 25.64% to 14.78%, while AT&C loss fell from 31.03% to 19.57%.
Top DISCOM result: Paschimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam recorded the highest share of profitable feeders at 53%.
