WhatsApp Tests Feature for New Group Members

WhatsApp is testing a new feature on iPhones that lets new group members see past messages.

This feature is currently available through a beta program called TestFlight.

When a new person joins a group, older members can choose to share up to 100 messages from the last 14 days.

These messages will be highlighted in a different color so they are easy to spot.

The feature is turned off by default, so users have to manually choose to share the messages.

WhatsApp will also show alerts to remind users before sharing the messages.

This feature is similar to what other apps like Telegram already offer.

The shared messages remain end-to-end encrypted and are only visible within the group.

The feature is designed to help new members understand the context of the group without revealing the entire chat history.
