Bengal excise officer and relative arrested over alleged financial fraud
A man who works for the government's excise department and his relative were arrested by the police.
People say the two men took a lot of money from people who live in Malda.
The men promised these people big profits from investing in the stock market.
The people gave them money because they wanted to earn more.
But the promised profits never came back to the people.
So one person complained to the police about what happened.
The case was sent to a special police team called the Economic Offences Wing.
The two men were caught in a town called Sodepur and brought to Malda.
A judge sent them to police custody for seven days.

Subhadip Ghosh, an officer of the state excise department currently posted in Calcutta, and his relative Agni Maitra were arrested from Sodepur in Calcutta.
A case was registered against the duo at Englishbazar police station on August 7.
They allegedly collected large sums of money from several Malda residents by promising high returns through share market investments.
The case was transferred to the Economic Offences Wing after a resident complained when the promised returns did not materialise.
The pair were produced before the Malda district court and remanded to seven days of police custody.
