Himanta appeals for peace amid Assam-Arunachal border clash

Two neighbouring states in India, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, are having a disagreement about where their border should be.

Some people from both states got upset, and there was a big clash near a place called Dhemaji.

The police had to fire shots into the air to make the crowd calm down.

Some people also stopped goods from going into Arunachal Pradesh, which is called an economic blockade.

A very important leader named Himanta Biswa Sarma asked everyone to be peaceful.

He said that even though the states have borders, the people are like brothers and sisters.

He said the two governments are talking to each other to solve the problem.

He also said there are only 52 villages left that the leaders need to agree about.

A long time ago, after Arunachal Pradesh became a state, a group said some land should be given to it from Assam.

Assam did not agree, so the highest court in India is now helping to decide.
