The Deputy Chief Minister, Pawan Kalyan, has approved the release of 1,000 cusecs of water from the Yeleru Reservoir to help farmers in the Pithapuram, Peddapuram, and Jaggampeta constituencies.

This decision was made during an Irrigation Advisory Board meeting, considering the low water levels due to El Nino.

The released water will irrigate 53,000 acres of farmland.

Farmers are advised to choose crops that need less water and to get crop insurance.
