Nagarjuna Sagar Inflows Rise as Srisailam Releases Water
A big reservoir in India called Nagarjuna Sagar is getting more water.
The water is coming from another reservoir upstream called Srisailam.
Srisailam lets water flow out while it makes electricity, and that water travels down to Nagarjuna Sagar.
On Saturday morning, about 49,983 cusecs of water were flowing in every second.
A cusec is a way to measure how much water flows by.
Because of this, the water level in the reservoir went up to 515.30 feet.
The reservoir can safely hold water up to 590 feet high.
Right now it holds about 140 TMC of water out of its full capacity of 312 TMC.
Workers have stopped releasing water through the power house and the canals.
Only a small amount of water, 900 cusecs, is being let out through a special system called SLBC.
Officials say the water level will likely keep rising if the inflow continues, and they are watching it closely.
Inflows into the Nagarjuna Sagar reservoir reached 49,983 cusecs as of 9 am Saturday.
The increased inflow is due to water being released from the upstream Srisailam reservoir through power generation.
The reservoir's water level stood at 515.30 feet against a Full Reservoir Level of 590 feet.
Current water storage is 140.8451 TMC against the reservoir's full capacity of 312.0450 TMC.
Total outflow is 900 cusecs through the SLBC (AMRP) system, with the main power house discharge, canal releases, and crest gates all stopped.
