Bhiwandi Orders Meat Ban During Paryushan Amid Enforcement Concerns
Bhiwandi’s city administration has banned the sale of meat on two days during the Jain festival of Paryushan Parva.

The Jain community asked for the ban because the festival emphasizes ahimsa, which means non-violence.

Jain representatives say similar bans in the past were not always followed.

The order followed a request from Shri Samast Jain Mahasangh, citing the festival’s principle of ahimsa, or non-violence.
Mahasangh president Ashok Jain alleged that vendors bypassed earlier bans by selling meat clandestinely outside closed shops.
The organization urged police and civic authorities to conduct joint patrols, surprise inspections and take legal action against violators.
