Vasai-Virar Provides Rs 10 Lakh Insurance to 8,000 Govindas

The Vasai-Virar civic body has given each registered participant accident insurance of up to Rs 10 lakh.
About 8,000 Govindas from 118 teams are covered.
The insurance is free for registered participants.
The festival will be celebrated on Saturday.
Officials have also asked everyone to follow safety rules and stay disciplined.
The Vasai-Virar City Municipal Corporation approved accident insurance of up to Rs 10 lakh for each participating Govinda.
The coverage applies to Govindas forming human pyramids during this year’s Gopal Kala, or Dahi Handi, festival.
A total of 118 Govinda teams registered, covering approximately 8,000 participants across the municipal corporation area.
Teams were asked to register members for the free insurance scheme by September 3.
The civic body urged participants, organisers and citizens to follow discipline and safety measures during Saturday’s celebrations.
