Pincky Balhara Secures India’s Kurash Medal, Reaches Semifinal
Pincky Balhara won an important Kurash match for India.
She beat South Korea’s Lim Garam by three points to zero.
This win put her into the semifinal.
Because she reached the semifinal, India is guaranteed at least a bronze medal.
Balhara won the match using a move called a ‘Chala.’
She previously won silver at the 2018 Asian Games.
She will now compete against Korea’s Sumin Mo.
India also had other athletes competing in archery, surfing, cricket, athletics, boxing and shooting.
Pincky Balhara defeated South Korea’s Lim Garam 3-0 in the women’s 78kg Kurash quarterfinal.
The victory guaranteed India at least a bronze medal and marked its third Asian Games Kurash medal.
Balhara scored with a ‘Chala’ move, while Lim did not score during the bout.
Balhara, a 2018 Asian Games silver medallist, will face Korea’s Sumin Mo in the semifinal.
In other Day 9 results, Ganesh Mani Ratnam Thirumuru reached the compound archery quarterfinals, while surfer Sivaraj Babu was eliminated.
