Ganesh Edges Sahil in Asian Games Compound Archery Clash
Ganesh Mani Ratnam Thirumuru won a very close compound archery match at the Asian Games.
He beat his Indian teammate Sahil Jadhav by one point, 149-148.
Both archers had won their earlier matches.
Ganesh defeated Indonesia’s Sostar Andaru Rinaldi, while Jadhav beat Mongolia’s Jamiyangombo Purevdorj.
The match between the two Indians was decided in the fifth set.
Ganesh shot two 10s and an X, while Jadhav finished with a 9 after also shooting an X and a 10.
Ganesh will now compete against Chieh-lun Chen of Chinese Taipei.
The quarterfinal is scheduled for October 1.
Ganesh Mani Ratnam Thirumuru defeated fellow Indian Sahil Jadhav 149-148 in the men’s compound individual round of 16.
Ganesh had earlier beaten Indonesia’s Sostar Andaru Rinaldi 144-142 in the round of 32.
Jadhav reached the round of 16 after defeating Mongolia’s Jamiyangombo Purevdorj 149-137.
Ganesh will face Chieh-lun Chen of Chinese Taipei in the quarterfinals on October 1.
The result leaves Ganesh as India’s only remaining competitor in the men’s individual compound draw.
