Crop Insurance Deadline Likely To Be Extended In Andhra Pradesh
A minister named P. Narayana in Andhra Pradesh, India, said farmers might get more time to sign up for crop insurance.
He said he would talk to the Chief Minister about extending the deadline.
The minister spoke at a meeting in the city of Kakinada.
The meeting was about helping the district with its plans and problems.
He wants the farming and water departments to work together.
This is because the weather pattern called El Nino can hurt crops.
Water is already being released from a big reservoir to help farmers.
He also told officials to make sure people get pensions and other help they need.
He wants hospitals and schools to get better.
He said a heart doctor would be hired at a government hospital.
Municipal administration minister P. Narayana said he would consult Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on extending the crop insurance deadline.
Measures will be taken to resolve crop insurance-related problems by mobilising funds in a phased manner.
Narayana stressed coordination between the Agriculture and Water Resources departments to protect crops from El Nino's impact.
Collector Harendhira Prasad said water is being released from the Yeleru Reservoir on a rotational basis to address the impact of El Nino.
Narayana directed officials to ensure pensions, welfare schemes, housing and health security reach every eligible beneficiary and to improve government hospital and school facilities.
