Women Die By Suicide Over Dowry Harassment
Two women, Keerthisri (24) and Dipti (30), died by suicide in separate incidents.
Keerthisri's family says she was very sad because her husband and his family kept asking for more money.
They had already spent a lot on her wedding and gave more money for a house, but her husband wanted even more.
Dipti, a computer engineer, was allegedly forced to undergo sex determination and a forceful abortion by her in-laws.
Both women couldn't handle the pressure and sadly took their own lives.
The police are now investigating and have filed cases against their husbands and in-laws.
A 24-year-old woman, Keerthisri, died by suicide in Bengaluru, allegedly due to dowry-related harassment.
Her parents claimed she was under severe mental distress from repeated monetary demands by her husband, Guruprasad, and his family.
Keerthisri was married to Guruprasad, a gym trainer, in 2023, and her parents spent around Rs 30 lakh on the wedding.
In December 2025, Guruprasad demanded Rs 10 lakh for house construction; Rs 8 lakh was paid, but he continued to pressure for the remaining Rs 2 lakh.
Police have registered a case of dowry harassment and abetment to suicide against Guruprasad and his parents.
