Police in Rajasthan were trying to stop a tractor-trolley they suspected was carrying sand mined illegally.

The incident happened around 9 a.m.

on Bhedola Road in Sawai Madhopur.

A constable named Surendra Singh signalled for the driver to stop.

Police said the driver sped up and hit him, and a wheel ran over his leg.

An 85-year-old woman named Jumi was also hit while carrying fodder.

Both people were taken to a health centre for treatment.

Singh was later referred to a hospital in Jaipur because he was seriously injured.

The driver left with the vehicle, and police are searching for him.

Police have registered a case over the incident and the alleged illegal sand transport.
